What to Bring to Appointments
When you come in for your appointment, we advise you to bring any information that you believe will be helpful, and require that you bring the following for:

  • an uncertified copy of your criminal record, which can be obtained from the Orange County Court House in Hillsborough, Monday through Friday, 8:30am until 5pm, or at the Orange County Court House satellite location at the Chapel Hill Post Office on Franklin Street, on Tuesdays from 9am-12pm. We have a sample printout of this available in our office; it may be helpful to obtain this from us and take it with you to the Clerk of Court’s office, for clarification’s sake.
  • if you signed a Deferred Prosecution Agreement, you MUST bring a copy of this with you. If you do not currently have a copy of it, you can ONLY get this from the Orange County Court House in Hillsborough, Monday through Friday, 8:30am until 5pm.
  • If your case was dismissed pursuant to compliance with a Deferred Prosecution Agreement, the law now requires payment of a $175.00 court filing fee when your petition to expunge your record is filed. Please bring this fee in with you for your appointment with Student Legal Services, in the form of either a certified check or money order, made out to the Orange County Clerk of Superior Court.
